Bushfire Assessment and Planning
nghenvironmental have undertaken bushfire assessments for a wide range of projects and clients, including subdivisions and Special Protection developments such as tourist accommodation, schools, hospitals and senior's living developments. We have prepared detailed mapping of bushfire hazards affecting ski resort areas in the Perisher Range area of Kosciuszko National Park, with a view to the preparation of a Development Control Plan for the area. Most projects involve assessment of the bushfire hazards affecting a site, consultation with the RFS and other authorities, and determining compliance with Planning for Bushfire Protection.
nghenvironmental emphasise the need for bushfire protection issues to be taken into consideration early in the development planning process, hence we can tailor our services to these requirements. Some of the main types of services we provide include: - Bushfire Constraints Analyses: Often carried out as part of a total site constraints analyses, this allows for the early identification of bushfire hazards and potential mitigation measures early in the planning process. The initial constraints analysis may take the form of a detailed document, more suited to subdivisions planning, or a short letter which can be useful for pre-purchase appreciation of the development potential of a site.
- Bushfire Protection Assessments: These assess the compliance of a proposal with Planning for Bushfire Protection. For integrated developments, such as subdivisions and Special Protection Developments, the Bushfire Protection Assessment is used to apply for a Bushfire Safety Authority from the RFS in order to achieve development consent.
