Renewable Energy & Energy Management
nghenvironmental have specialist expertise in energy management, reporting, planning and renewable energy.
Wind Farms nghenvironmental have prepared environmental assessments for four wind farm projects in NSW. These four medium sized (approximately 30 megawatt) wind farms would supply electricity directly to the electricity grid. The amount of power put into the grid is then sold by electricity retailers as ‘green power’ and helps these retailers meet renewable energy targets. Each wind farm would contain around 15 wind turbines. The benefits from each proposed windfarm would include: - Production off up to 95,000 MWh of greenhouse gas free renewable electricity / yr. This would provide power for approximately 12,200 average-use homes.
- Savings equivalent to 19,000 cars off our roads for 30 years.
- Savings of 110 to 125 ML water / yr of potable water used in coal-fired power stations.
- Savings of up to 538,000 kg of sulphur dioxide, up to 233,000 kg of nitrogen oxides, and up to 2090 kg of particulates generated by coal fired power stations.
- Provision of local jobs and an injection of up to $10 Million into the local economy.
- Improved security of electricity supply through diversification.
Over the life of each of these wind farm projects (approximately 30 years), the four wind farms combined would reduce emissions by 240 000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year and thereby assist in mitigating the effects of climate change. Energy Management and Reporting
nghenvironmental have prepared the statutory reporting required under the Government Energy Management Policy and the voluntary emissions inventory under the Greenhouse Gas Challenge Plus Program for RailCorp. nghenvironmental is also assisting RailCorp with its Resource Use and Waste Guideline. Energy efficiency initiatives are an integral part of of this guideline. These programs are designed to assist government in recording and reducing its energy consumption and CO2 emissions.

Emissions Trading What is emissions trading all about? nghenvironmental have prepared the following information sheet for rural and regional business, to help you understand climate change, greenhouse gas emissions and emissions trading.
nghenvironmental are active supporters of CEFE, with ngh director Nick Graham Higgs being a founding member. As well as in-kind and active support, we also donate money to CEFE to offset our carbon emissions for company flights.
