Jamie majored in Vegetation and Wildlife Management and Parks and Recreation. Between 1994 and 2003 Jamie was employed by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (now known as the Parks & Wildlife Division of the Dept. of Environment and Conservation). For the majority of this period, he was employed as the “Senior Ranger, Fire Management in the Sydney North Region and Glen Innes District”. During this employment Jamie completed a number of works relating to fire management. Examples include:

  • Coordination of Regional Prescribed Burn & Fire Trail Maintenance Programs.
  • Fire Management Planning for five National Parks and 10 Nature Reserves.
  • Author, Draft Fire Management Long Island, Lion Island and Spectacle Island Nature Reserves 2000.
  • Project manager, Mougamarra Nature Reserve & Marramarra Nat. Park Draft Fire Management Plan 2000.
  • Project manager, Windsor Downs Nature Reserve Draft Fire Management Plan.
  • Co-Author, Ku-ring-gai Nat. Park Draft Fire Management Plan.
  • Chairperson, Lane Cove, Hunters Hill & Ryde District Bushfire Management Committee.
  • Author, Draft Lane Cove, Hunters Hill & Ryde Bushfire Risk Management Plan 2000.
  • Co-Author, Warringah, Pittwater Bushfire Risk Management Plan 2000.

Jamie has 10 years experience in bushfire management and has considerable expertise in fire management in reserve areas, including those surrounded by residential areas.
