Julie Dibden

Julie Dibden provides nghenvironmental with specialist support in all aspects of cultural heritage management, including:

  • Archaeological field survey and site assessment,
  • Aboriginal consultation,
  • Site significance assessment,
  • Formulation of mitigation and management strategies,
  • Preparation of Conservation Plans of Management,
  • Preparation of heritage impact permit applications.

Julie is a consultant archaeologist with an honours degree in archaeology from the Australian National University. For her honours thesis she was awarded 1st class honours and the Peter May Prize for Archaeology. Her research background includes stone tool analysis and rock art.

Julie has ten years experience in cultural heritage management in both the private and public sectors and within the last 18 months she has undertaken or contributed to at least 30 archaeological consultancies. Her clients have included the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and major organisations such as Sydney Gas Operations, McRoss Developments, RTA, Snowy Hydro and Nepean Quarries. Julie is experienced in Aboriginal heritage field survey and site assessment, and in site management and conservation planning. She is also highly experienced in liaison with Aboriginal communities, both through her consulting assignments and administrative work performed for the Southern Aboriginal Heritage Unit of the Parks & Wildlife Division of the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC). Julie’s planning experience has provided her with an appreciation of the needs of land managers and developers and the requirement to balance this against legislative and heritage conservation objectives.
