Shane Priddle

BSc (Marine Science)

nghenvironmental
Project Manager, Manager Western Australia Office

Shane holds a Marine Science degree (majoring in Biology and Geoscience) from the University of Wollongong, NSW. He has a keen interest in all aspects of the coastal environment, particularly coastal and estuarine management and planning. Before his employment with nghenvironmental he has had consulting experience in bush regeneration (riparian corridors) and contaminated site assessment.

Since commencing work with nghenvironmental, Shane has prepared and assisted in the preparation of over 70 environmental impact assessment, biodiversity and management documents, for clients such as Telstra, Siemens Thiess (SILCAR), NSW Dept of Commerce, Country Energy, NSW Roads and Traffic Authority, NSW Ambulance Service, Snowy Hydro, local Councils in NSW and WA, the Department of Environment and Conservation (NSW and WA) and Western Power (WA).

A number of these have included work in sensitive environments, such as the preparation of EIS’s for road works through SEPP 14 coastal wetlands in the Eurobodalla Shire and impact assessment documents for developments within many of southern NSW’s national parks, including Kosciusko National Park and Batemans Bay Marine Park. Shane has project managed the environmental planning associated with a number of Country Energy Group Schemes which provided power to country and regional areas.

A notable proportion of Shane’s time was also dedicated to assisting Telstra in providing environmental planning advice and services, to facilitate the process associated with the installation of mobile phone towers throughout southern New South Wales and northern Victoria. This has included a project management role in planning for the Federal Government funded Besley Roll-out ($15 million project cost and consultant cost of $250 000), which included 60 sites around NSW.

Shane has had field experience in environmental impact assessments, constraints and biodiversity assessments including terrestrial fauna surveys, estuarine flora and fauna surveys and basic auditing. He is also experienced in the application of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) in the area of resource management, carrying out the majority of nghenvironmental’s in-house mapping and support. This has included data collection, manipulation, analysis, interpretation and map generation for a variety of projects for both government and non-government organisations. Projects have included bushfire hazard mapping and generation of APZs for the Perisher Range resort areas, and numerous constraints maps/layers for developments such as water pipelines, power lines, windfarms, road works, subdivisions and works within sensitive environments for both Government and non-Government clients.

Shane currently manages the Western Australian office in Dunsborough, and is working on a combination of work locally in WA (for clients such as Dept of Environment and Conservation, Shire of Busselton and Western Power) and remotely on jobs throughout NSW.

Courses Shane has attended recently include:
