The Telecommunications Sector
nghenvironmental have extensive experience in environmental planning and project management within the telecommunications sector. We have demonstrated an ability to manage and coordinate large projects and multidisciplinary planning teams to provide services such as:
- Advice on the development approval process, environmental law and policy;
- Project management;
- Assessment of environmental site constraints to assist with planning;
- Preparation of relevant environmental/planning documentation including Development Applications, Environmental Management Plans, Landscaping and Rehabilitation Plans, Erosion & Sediment Control / Stormwater Management Plans, Archaeological Reports, Visual Assessments & Photo Montages; and
- provision other services such as Environmental Impact Assessment, Biodiversity Assessment, Bushfire Planning and Assessment, Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Assessments and mapping, including the use of GIS and aerial photo interpretation.
The management of telecommunications infrastructure rollouts and other ongoing projects involves a complex understanding of Federal, State and Local environmental legislation and planning policies, as well as telecommunications legislation and a range of other related planning instruments.
nghenvironmental have carried out environmental planning for numerous telecommunications projects on behalf of clients such as the NSW Ambulance Service, Siemens Thiess/SILCAR, Optus, the National Parks Division of the NSW department of Environment and Conservation, Telstra, WIN Television and Capital Radio.
In particular, we have been involved in assisting Telstra with the development of infrastructure for 15 years. This includes over 7 years experience in mobile phone planning and development. We have prepared planning documents and related environmental and archaeological assessments and community consultation for over 70 sites throughout southern and south western NSW, northern Victoria and the ACT (approximate development cost over $23 million), in both regional and metropolitan locations.

Environmental Management
nghenvironmental services include the preparation of Environmental Management Plans (EMP’s), which detail how potential environmental impacts resulting from proposed installations are to be managed.
We have particular experience in the preparation of EMP’s for sites in sensitive areas such as Kosciuszko National Park and areas containing endangered ecological communities (EEC’s) and/or threatened flora and fauna species.
